Having grown up raising chickens and cultivating fruits and vegetables in her backyard, our founder, Ophelia Sarakinis has long known the value of quality food and knowing where it comes from. Tired of crunchy, tasteless strawberries and concerned about high levels of pesticide contamination, she took matters into her own hands.
At GUSH, our mission is refreshingly simple: to grow strawberries at their best. To us, that means delicious, pesticide-free, and locally grown.
How are we doing it? We’re bringing agriculture back to the island of Montréal. At our sustainable urban farm in the city’s revitalizing garment district, we grow gourmet strawberries without pesticides for Montrealers to enjoy 365 days a year. They’re hand-picked at perfect ripeness and delivered locally the same day.
